Position Overview:

Job Title: Tour Guide/Field Guide
Location: East Africa

Type: Casual
Reports to: Operations Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Guiding and Educating Guests:

    • Conduct guided tours, providing informative and engaging narratives about local wildlife, ecology, culture, and history.

    • Ensure guest safety and satisfaction throughout the tour.

  2. Wildlife and Ecological Knowledge:

    • Possess in-depth knowledge of local flora, fauna, and conservation practices.

    • Educate guests on ecological systems, wildlife behavior, and conservation efforts.

  3. Customer Service:

    • Address guest queries and concerns with professionalism and courtesy.

    • Tailor experiences to meet the specific interests and needs of diverse groups.

  4. Safety and Risk Management:

    • Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures.

    • Respond effectively to emergency situations.

  5. Tour Preparation and Execution:

    • Plan and execute tour itineraries.

    • Coordinate with logistics teams to ensure necessary resources are available.

  6. Maintaining Equipment:

    • Ensure all equipment and vehicles used in tours are well-maintained and safe.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma or equivalent in Tourism, Environmental Science, Zoology, or related field.

  • Experience: Previous experience in guiding, wildlife conservation, or ecotourism is preferred.

  • Skills:

    • Excellent communication and storytelling abilities.

    • Strong interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse guests.

    • Ability to work in challenging outdoor environments.

    • First Aid and CPR certification.

  • Language: Proficiency in english is essential.
